What happens when you bring together 48 cyclists, three spin bikes, one very special pub and a community determined to remember someone they loved?
You get Ride for Nige, 24 hours of cycling, laughter, friendship, fundraising and more than a few tired legs!
On Friday 17 July 2026, we gathered at The Station Inn in Kidderminster for our first Ride for Nige, a 24-hour sponsored cycling challenge held in loving memory of Nigel Prosser and raising funds for the Nigel Prosser Foundation.
And what an incredible 24 hours it turned out to be.
48 Cyclists. 996.85 Miles. £1,963.16 Raised in our Ride For Nige
Our challenge was simple: keep at least one bike moving continuously for 24 hours.
But our amazing community took that challenge considerably further!
Across three spin bikes, 48 cyclists clocked up an incredible 996.85 miles, while continuous cycling was maintained throughout the entire 24-hour event.
Friends came along to support riders and ended up getting on a bike themselves. Family members joined in. Pub regulars challenged one another. Even people who had simply popped in for a drink found themselves taking a turn!
What started as a schedule of individual one-hour rides quickly became shared cycling sessions, friendly competition and a collective determination to keep those pedals turning. Out of a possible 72 cycling hours across our three bikes, only 10 hours went unused.
And together, everyone helped raise a fantastic:

Doing Something for Nigel
From the beginning, we wanted Ride for Nige to be about more than raising money.
We wanted it to be about Nigel.
The event was built around the things and places that meant something to him, his favourite pub, his favourite beer, his friendships and, above all, the community around him.
That made the event feel incredibly personal. People weren’t simply turning up to another charity fundraiser. As a number of those attending put it, they were “doing something for Nige.”
There was plenty of friendly rivalry too!
Chris Perks and Eddie Williams took the prize for the highest sponsorship raised, bringing in an amazing £525.
Glenn Pearson achieved the longest distance cycled in a single hour with an impressive 29.2 miles.
And Dan Webster won our Guess the Total Distance competition by coming closest to our final total of 996.85 miles.
A Community Ride and a Community Effort
An event like this simply doesn’t happen without people getting behind it.
A huge thank you goes to Colin and Trudy and everyone at The Station Inn, who embraced Ride for Nige from the very beginning and helped create such a welcoming atmosphere throughout the 24 hours.
The Station Inn was the perfect home for the event. It was Nigel’s local and remains somewhere his memory is held with enormous affection.
We’d also like to say a massive thank you to Wye Valley Brewery, who kindly donated more than £100 worth of Butty Bach prizes. Anyone who knew Nigel will understand just how fitting that was!
Thank you also to Black Feenix Catering for supporting the event with additional raffle prizes and practical help, and to everyone who donated prizes, bought raffle and tombola tickets, sponsored a cyclist or simply came along and supported us.
A special thank you must also go to Em Perks, whose work coordinating the planning, communications, logistics, documentation, volunteers and delivery helped bring the whole event together.
What happens with the money generated by the Ride for Nige
The money raised through Ride for Nige will make a genuine difference.
Our original hope was to use the proceeds towards a summer seaside trip for children and families attending our Share & Care support groups.
However, with existing grant funding coming to an end and unavoidable gaps before further funding applications can be submitted and decided, maintaining our regular support for families has become the more pressing priority.
We therefore anticipate using the unrestricted funds raised through Ride for Nige to help cover funding shortfalls and protect the continuity of our weekly Wednesday and Friday support sessions.
For us, making sure families can continue accessing the support they rely on has to come first.
Thank You to everyone
The feedback we’ve received since the event has been wonderful. Participants described Ride for Nige as friendly, well organised, emotional, fun and community-focused, with cyclists already saying they’d happily take part again. The Station Inn has also expressed enthusiasm about hosting another Ride for Nige in the future.
To every cyclist who climbed onto a bike; every volunteer who gave their time; every business that supported us; every person who sponsored, donated or bought a raffle ticket; and everyone who simply came through the doors to cheer people on:

Ride for Nige showed exactly what can happen when a community comes together behind something, and someone, who means so much to them.
It was a day of laughter.
A day of remembrance.
A day of friendly rivalry.
A day of tired legs and sore bums.
And, most importantly, a day that kept Nigel’s memory exactly where it belongs: at the heart of the community he loved.
This was far more than a fundraising event. It was a legacy in motion.
