Dottie is 2 and a half years old and is truly one of the happiest, funniest, and most loving little girls you could ever meet. She lives with a complex genetic neurological condition, cysts on her brain, and autism. She is currently undergoing tests to confirm cerebral palsy. Dottie struggles to communicate as she is non-verbal and faces daily challenges in understanding and interacting with the world around he, but her spirit shines through every day.
Dotties Development and Future
To help support Dottie communicate and develop, her amazing family and friends are working hard to raise £8,000 to fund a specialist communication device and eye-tracker. This technology would give Dottie a powerful voice, something every child deserves.
How We Helped In The Interim
While they continue to fundraise, we’re so pleased to share that the Nigel Prosser Foundation has donated a refurbished iPad to Dottie and her family. This iPad was kindly donated by our brilliant IT support volunteer, Colin, who wiped it clean and prepared it for a brand-new user.
The iPad will be used as a temporary communication aid. We advised the family to download apps like Twinkl and other AAC (augmentative and alternative communication) tools to help Dottie begin expressing her needs, wants, and feelings as the family works toward their fundraising goal.
Without this iPad, Dottie would have been unable to communicate with her family, and it would have hindered her development.
