We wanted to share a lovely update from a local family we recently supported through funding for an electric hob, something that made a real difference to their child’s safety and wellbeing.
Why This Was Essential
Their young son, who is on the autism spectrum, had developed a strong fascination with their original gas hobs and was regularly turning them on. Despite having stair gates in place, he was able to climb over them easily, which created a serious safety risk for the whole household as he was interacting with the hob. After speaking with the family, it was clear that the simplest and safest solution was to remove the gas hob entirely and replace it with an electric hob, one that could be turned off completely at the mains when not in use.
